ITE – IT Entrepreneurship

In cooperation with the Hamburg Research Center for Information Systems (HARCIS) at the University of Hamburg, the IT-Entrepreneurship program for undergraduate students is offered every summer semester.

Topics from the field of IT-based start-up management are dealt with in multiple perspectives.

Some of the topics, amongst others:

  • Economic significance of start-ups for economy and society
  • Elementary terms of start-up management (start-up ABC)
  • Methodic approach for the development and execution of ideas and innovations in IT-based products and services (in Design Thinking, among others)
  • Critical success factors for technology-oriented and science-intensive start-ups (chances and risks)
  • Financing and investment types for start-ups and financiers (Investors, business angles, business development banks etc.)
  • Models for courses of action and best practices for IT-based start-up founding and consolidation (case studies and guest presentations)
  • Creation and evaluation of business plans (business plan competition)

These were the goals:

  • Acquire knowledge regarding the theoretical fundaments of IT-based start-up founding
  • Knowledge of foundation practice from a regional, national and international perspective
  • Learning fundamental knowledge about digital business models, innovation and the execution of IT-based products and services.
  • Application of systematically and scientifically validated methods for the foundation and consolidation of young IT-based start-ups
  • Case study-based development of business plans

Particularly noteworthy is the donation of the purse by Fehrmann Metallverarbeitung GmbH in the amount of 500 EUR for the three winning groups and the organization of the business plan competition
